We focus on language development and friendship. Good language skills are crucial for children's play and learning in kindergarten. We therefore work to support children in their language development. We do this through varied sensory experiences, wonder, further development of vocabulary and conceptual understanding, strengthening children's language development through play, positive relationships, and interaction.
Children learn language when they themselves get to use language and when they hear language in situations they engage in and find meaningful. We have language groups and work extensively with text culture and communication.
Friendship is an important factor in the process of socialization. Having a friend makes one feel like part of a community and strengthens self-esteem. Children must learn what it means to be a friend, and how to make friends. We as adults must help children build relationships with each other. We also work on inclusion, saying stop! and respect for others when they say stop!
We are inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, where interdisciplinary thematic work is often carried out over longer periods. Here, children's participation plays a major role.
